If you're considering moving to Colorado or relocating within the state, chances are you're dreaming of mountain views. And who could blame you? The Mile High City offers the best of both worlds with a vibrant metropolitan area backed by the larger-than-life Rocky Mountains, offering incredible views and even better outdoor activities. You'd be shocked to find that most folks looking from out-of-state don't realize that Denver itself isn't actually in the mountains, but once they do, mountain views typically shoot to the top of the home wish list.
Denver itself is quite flat, with many large, mature trees, making mountain views from your home more challenging than you'd think. This can makefinding a home with mountain views a bit trickier than expected. Fortunately, several pockets of the Denver Metro Area and suburbs offer great views without adding too much time to your daily commute.
The western side of I-25, while closer to the mountains, doesn't necessarily offer the best 'larger than life' views. However, neighborhoods like Highland, Sloans Lake, Ruby Hill, Regis, Applewood Village in Wheat Ridge, and various pockets of high ground further east around Lowry and Hilltop offer some great views. If you're willing to venture further out of the city, there are several smaller suburban communities along I-70 that offer incredible mountain views and living. Places like Golden, Evergreen, Conifer, Ken Caryl, and Genesee are all lovely communities that provide mountain views and landscapes. But if you really want to experience the grand majesty of the front range, you'll need to head east.
The further east you go, the more panoramic view of the mountains you'll find. Neighborhoods in Castle Rock, Parker, Aurora, Thornton, Brighton, and areas surrounding Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, like Reunion, all offer incredible mountain views. Occasionally, you'll even find them in Highlands Ranch or anywhere that provides higher ground in the terrain.
So, if mountain views are at the top of your home wish list, don't worry - there are plenty of options in and around Denver that will fit the bill.
