2025 Home Decor Trends Predictions

It's 2025, and we're eagerly awaiting the wave of home decor trends set to make their mark this year. Historically, home design trends have followed fashion movements, infiltrating living spaces with a slight delay. Remember the 90s obsession with chunky platform shoes? Those eventually stomped their way into furniture legs. And let’s not forget the early 2000s velour tracksuits because, yes, velvet sofas were their inevitable fate. And we happen to think 2025 home decor trends will be no different. As they say, it’s all just a bit of history repeating.

2025 Home Decor Trends Prediction: The Late 90s/Early 2000s Revival

Fashion’s recent love affair with the Y2K era means it's only a matter of time before our homes follow suit (and suit jackets were a big thing last year). Will inflatable furniture, sponge-textured walls, and kitschy kitchen roosters make a comeback? We certainly hope not. But, limewash walls are taking over those faux-Tuscan finishes, so who’s to say?

2024’s Hottest Fashion Trends and Their Home Decor Potential

Taupe

Expect this neutral to make a big impact on furniture and wall colors. This versatile shade pairs effortlessly with both bold and understated elements, making it a perfect base for layering textures and patterns without overwhelming the space. And since everything from blazer vests to literal toenails went taupe last year, this is a 2025 home decor trend we can expect.

Muted Tones

Browns, beiges, blacks, and whites will dominate (along with their counterpart: taupe), with pops of personality. These earthy hues provide a calming backdrop that allows accent colors, unique textures, and statement pieces to shine.

Off-White Palettes with Quirky Pops of Color

Those looking for a bold take on the muted neutrals trend will probably rely on the baddie color of 2024: off-white (in every shade). Picture serene, creamy walls brought to life with unexpected bursts of vibrant hues in art, furniture, or decor accessories.

Leopard Print

A little wild, a little glam… last year’s fashion print du jour is making its way onto accent chairs and ottomans. This bold pattern, when used thoughtfully, can elevate a space with just the right amount of edgy sophistication without feeling over the top.

Corduroy Fabric

Cozy, textured, and the quintessential trouser textile (but unexpected for upholstery). With its soft ridges and tactile appeal, corduroy is stepping beyond fashion and onto throw pillows, bringing a sense of nostalgia while adding a cozy, lived-in feel to any room.

Unique Statement Fabrics

Quirky textures and bold designs will take center stage in soft furnishings. Expect to see a fresh take on 90s hibiscus patterns, with oversized florals making a bold comeback. And let’s not forget Gen Z’s obsession with Danish Pastel in 2024. Soft hues and playful contrasts could soon dominate our living spaces too.

Sequins

Arguably the most talked-about Gen Z trend is the Y2K movement that invaded everything from TikTok videos to high-fashion runways. Although we feel personally victimized by the actual 2000s aesthetic (we know you've archived your Facebook album of digital camera selfies), we do enjoy the more glittering parts of it. Bring on the shimmering fabrics and sequined everything.

Looking Ahead: Nostalgia and the Home

If the 90s were all about 70s throwbacks, it’s only fair that the 2025 aesthetic revisits the early 2000s.

"Just like fashion trends, home decor evolves to reflect our collective nostalgia and aspirations. What we loved wearing in 2024 will soon be shaping our living spaces, bringing personality and style into every corner. The side part became acceptable in fashion again last year. As a true elder millennial, I’m still holding out hope that it completes a full-on comeback this year. But knowing trends, that might make 2026 all about asymmetrical window curtains... and honestly, I don't know if I'm ready for that kind of commitment.” — Laurel Cisneros, Chief Marketing Officer, Corcoran Perry & Co.

Buckle (of the giant bedazzled belt jewelry of the 2000s variety) up — 2025 is bringing a home-style revival that’s equal parts nostalgic throwback, personality-packed charm, and just enough surprise to keep us on our toes…and off inflatable furniture.
