Outdoor Markets Ideal Place to Find Inspiration for Transforming House into "Home"

A house can be any basic unit of dwelling, whether it's a mid-mod home in Sloan's, a 1930's brick duplex in the Highlands or an ultra-modern townhome in Jefferson Park-- or anything else in between. A true œhome: however, is a much different story. Theformof the house never matters as much as what goesinside (and outside) because those are the people and special things that transform any space into ahome.

While there are endless catalogs and shops that make it really easy to fill a home, Denver is home to some extraordinary venues for finding those special items that really can make any house, apartment or condo a unique and special home. From thrift stores to antique shops to architectural salvage yards, Denver is a great place to shop for home.

One exciting and eclectic venues to come on the scene in recent years is The Jefferson Park Farm & Flea Market. Nestled just north of Bronco's stadium, this urban farm and artisan market is a place where you can find some of the most well-curated, hand-crafted goods and food along-side Colorado grown produce. Additionally, the market has a strong urban homesteading education component that seeks to help people learn and explore ways to grow and raise their own food. This includes everything from plants and gardening resources, to information about rainwater harvesting and composting. In 2010 the City and County of Denver passed a law that made raising chickens and dwarf goats legal within city limits. Since then, more and more people have been taking developing their urban farms and producing farm fresh eggs and goats milk! The market features opportunities to learn how one might become and œurban farmer!

Doug Yetman of Live Urban Real Estate is even giving one lucky aspiring urban homesteader the chance to win a chicken coop!

A trip the œJP Farm & Flea might yield a multitude of additions to any or garden: from seedlings to antiques, hand-crafted jams to hand-sewn napkins, to fine art and locally produced honey. With close to eighty local vendors, there is plenty to appeal to many styles and tastes. Shopping for the above items is made all the more enjoyable when surrounded by the sounds of local blue-grass bands and the smells of food wafting from Denver's best food trucks.

The JP Farm & Flea is a seasonal market held May 20th, July 15th and September 16th. Each market will feature over 70 vendors, food trucks, chickens, and seasonal urban homesteading education. The markets run from 10am-3pm and are held on the 25th Avenue between Federal and Eliot. For more information visit www.jpfleamarket.com or call 720-301-4293
