Corcoran Perry & Co. - east colfax

The East Colfax Neighborhood

Nestled between the old Stapleton International Airport and Lowry Air Force Base until the 1990s, there was nearly constant sound of aircraft landing and taking off on two sides in the East Colfax neighborhood. Residential development came to house workers from these two nearby airfields with construction of single-family ranch homes, flourishing after World War II and continued into the 1950’s. Nearby, the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center has transformed into the CU Anschutz medical campus, a world-class education, research and patient care facilities on one of the nation’s newest health sciences campuses. Of course, the neighborhood heart and soul remains Colfax Avenue, which is the longest main street in America at 26.8 miles long.
