2. Breweries (as Many as Possible)

Denver’s craft breweries weren’t built for January. They’re shady, industrial-chic, and usually freezing inside, thanks to overzealous cooling systems. Grab a friend, grab a sour, and make a game out of trying new ones in your neighborhood. Bonus points for breweries that double as dog sanctuaries and food truck courts.

3. The Clyfford Still Museum: Chill. Literally and Metaphorically.

This place is an architectural masterpiece that happens to house one of the most significant collections of abstract expressionist art in the world. But here’s the real kicker: it’s blissfully cool and remarkably quiet. You won’t find café chaos or a museum gift shop crammed with slinkies. Just hushed galleries, high ceilings, and curated serenity.

4. The Downtown Aquarium

Sharks, otters, and stingrays, oh my. Denver’s Downtown Aquarium is a reliable escape from the sun with its winding indoor exhibits and dimly lit viewing tunnels. 5. Food Halls

Denver’s food halls are basically adult summer camps with better snacks and central air. Places like Stanley Marketplace, Denver Central Market, and Edgewater Public Market offer sprawling, shaded spaces to browse, sip, and snack your way through the heat of the day. Whether you’re chasing the tangy perfection of Thai street food or camping out with a cold brew and a laptop, these indoor culinary hubs let you linger without breaking a sweat.

6. Indoor Playgrounds (Yes, For Adults Too)

If you have kids, the real summer villain is not the sun. It’s your AC bill when they’ve refused to go outside for the third day in a row. Indoor play spaces save your sanity and the price is justifiable, right?

8. Little Man Ice Cream Factory Tour: Cold on Purpose

Sure, you could just get a cone. But for a deeper dive (and better air conditioning) the factory tour in Sloan’s Lake adds a Willy Wonka twist to your sugar fix. It’s kid-friendly, adult-approved, and includes plenty of samples. Plus, it’s hard to feel cranky when you’re literally surrounded by sprinkles.

9. Meow Wolf Convergence Station

This immersive art experience in the Sun Valley neighborhood isn’t just wildly creative… it’s also climate-controlled. Wander through four surreal floors of otherworldly installations, interactive exhibits, and enough neon to fry your perception of reality. 10. Upstairs Circus: Arts, Crafts, and Cocktails

DIY workshop, part bar, part creative therapy, you pick a project (think leatherwork, jewelry, or concrete coasters), grab a drink, and start making. It’s social, hands-on, and refreshingly indoors. Great for friend groups, couples, or anyone in need of a productive distraction from the sun slowly cooking your front porch.
