Home Design Trends 2018 - Our Predictions

Home Design Trends 2018

It's 2018 and we're giddily awaiting the newdecor hitting home design trends for this coming year. Home design trends historically follow fashion movements that trickle into living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. Yes, the crocheted couch covers of the 70s started their trending lives as dresses and tops, while the golden arches of the 90s made their way into our hearts through the ear and neck bling of the day.

Our Home Design Trends Predictions in an Infographic

The same is true now future throw pillows are our current jackets, tops, and sweaters! So, with one eye on the fashion trends of 2017 and one looking forward into 2018, we put together some home design trends in the form of predictions for the new year.

Colors

2018 Home Decor Trends

  • Just like the dark gray clothing of 2017, charcoal and similar hues should play a foundational role in next year's home decor - the 50 shades of grey phenomenon stuck around for even longer than we expected! We expect these deep greys to play host to pops of color like mustard and fuchsia, just as we saw on the 2017 runways.
  • As a trending baby name and promising dominant hue for this coming spring's clothing lines, violet is one of our top color picks. Picture violet in all shades, from royal plumbs to lovely lilacs.
  • We think dusty peony will be a big thing in 2018 home decor! Envision a more neutral tint of dusted rose and you're on the right track. The popularity of blushes and rose golds in fashion seem to be wiggling their way into interior design through this elevated shade.

Patterns

Home Decor Textile Trends

These retro prints have already infiltrated the runways and main streets across the country! Plaids, polka dots, florals, and leopard print will likely grace bedding, rugs, and throws in 2018.

  • 70's Plaids and checks
  • Polka dots
  • 60's florals
  • Leopard

Textures

Trendy Textures for 2018

We foresee texture being a big thing this new year. The textiles from grandma's abode are back in town to relive their glory days. Expect to see faux fur and velvet in many a living room and bedroom.

  • Faux Fur
  • Whispy Feathers
  • Fringe
  • Sequins
  • Velvet
  • LamÃ
