Bringing Pantone's color of the year into your home decor

Every year, Pantone, the world-renowned authority on color, chooses the color of the year, a symbolic color selection of what Pantone sees taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.

For 2017, Pantone chose œGreenery. According to Forbes, Greenery signifies beginnings: a fresh New Year; healthier food resolutions and growing vegetarian trends; grass and the outdoors during spring and summer. But most prominently, the yellow-green hue (specifically, Pantone 15-0343) comments on the concept of œenvironment.

Of course, we love it at Live Urban Real Estate. Although we affectionately call it "Live Green," it's been the signature color of our real estate brokerage since 2006, and was originally chosen for the same reason - to symbolize the connection between home and environment. Good to know we're ahead of the curve!

œThere's a growing desire to reconnect with Nature and what is real, and find ways to disconnect from technology. We need a break. We need to stop and breathe, Laurie Pressman, the Pantone Color Institute's vice president, told to Forbes. œ(Greenery) is about unity and communityconnecting to oneself and others and a higher purpose, Nature.

As Pantone itself states œGreenery is nature's neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront - it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

So on this St. Patrick's Day, when all things are green, here's our take on how you can integrate today's most trend-forward color into your home. Check out these inspirational photos, and keep an eye out for this fresh new color popping up in home accessories, paint swatches and more.

What is the Pantone Color of the Year?

Pantone is the world-renowned authority on color. For over 50 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity. In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone's founder, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. ?Pantone has since expanded its color matching system concept to other color-critical industries, including digital technology, fashion, home, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, and paint.
