The best way to ring in the New Year is with friends and a quirky party. This year we're having a pajama party, spinning records and playing Family Feud. In many years throwing holiday parties, these two hors 'd oeuvres are always big hits. Both are from the original Colorado Cache cookbook. The cookbook isn't online but these two links have the correct recipes:

Any rooftop in LoHi,so you can see the fireworks!
Linger has great views with an$80 pick 4 courses option. If you're feeding a crowd at home, try making spring rolls. They are alight & healthy crowd pleaser, andyou can fill them with anything -http://minimalistbaker.com/ vietnamese-spring-rolls-with- crispy-tofu/

Jill Mant shared her favorite go-to party recipe...these sound delish!

Ever since my kids were really little, I have loved taking them to Noon Year's Eve at the Denver Children's Museum!
It's a kid's dream come true as they get to stomp on hundreds of yards of "bubble wrap fireworks" every hour on the hour, all day long...and it's a parent's dream come true because it wears them out enough that they aren't begging to stay up until midnight!

This year we'll be ringing in the new year at home with family.
On the menu will be sauerkraut and pork - a tradition in my family for as long as anyone can remember! Two cans of kraut mixed with about 1/2 cup brown sugar, salt and pepper to taste and pork of your choice (I like a pork loin or kielbasa) in a baking dish in a 350 degree oven. Vegetarian? Just make sure you eat the kraut! It is promised to be for luck and prosperity in the new year!

Dawn Richardson shared a few of her faves:
Because my family looks a little like the United Nations, we usually combine various New Years traditions from around the world.
When I lived in Japan, people cleaned their houses before the New Year to clean out the old and bring in the new. Citrus is in season, so mandarin oranges are always on the table and I like to buy mochi ice cream for my kids. I usually make a pot of black eyed peas, which are supposed to bring good luck in the New Year. We will celebrate the new year at home with friends we will serve a champagne cocktail.
Lavender Hibiscus Sparkle
Dry Sparkling wine, Prosecco or Champagne
Rising Sun Distillery Lavender Hibiscus Liqueur
In a champagne flute, add 3/4 oz lavender hibiscus liqueur
finish filling the glass with sparkling wine
Garnish with a twist of orange or a sprig of lavender.
Black eyed peas are also a must!
1 cup chopped carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
1 or two chopped jalapenos (optional)
4 cloves chopped garlic
1 Tbs butter or oil
1 ham bone
4 cups black eyed peas (soaked over night and drained, you can also buy frozen or canned black eyed peas to make this dish faster)
1 tbs salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbs Cumin
1 tbs old bay seasoning
1 can diced tomatoes
8 cups of water or stock
In a large stock pot cook vegetables until the bottom of the pan is browned and the vegetables are slightly soft but still have a little crunch. Remove the vegetables and set aside. Add the ham bone to the pot and add water and add the black eyed peas, bring to a boil and then lower heat and let simmer for three or four hours. (This can also be made in a crock pot on low for 8 hours or high for 4). After the beans are tender add spices and vegetables that were previously cooked and tomatoes. Let simmer another hour, remove ham bone and add back into the pot any ham that is still on the bone, serve hot with corn bread!
