Live Urban Agents Tell You: Best Garden Centers in the Denver Metro Area

It's FINALLY that time of year - and the first non-stormy weekend that we've had here in the Denver Metro area for as long as we can remember! Your green thumb is probably itching to plant your garden, fill in your flower beds, accessorize your yards and hang some overflowing flower baskets from your balcony or front porch.

There are a lot of fabulous garden centers in the Denver area...we asked Live Urban agents to spill their favorite spots so that you can get out there and start planting! Here's what our agents are saying...

Echter's- Really helpful plant Docs, and a great selection of Colorado water smart plants. Don't go unless you're got a truck big enough to haul it all home...your eyes will always be bigger than your trunk.

Paulino Gardens- The selection and prices are great! Plus they have the best variety of Succulents.

Urban Roots in the Golden Triangle-is a peaceful, carefully curated neighborhood shop for beautiful plants and garden accents. They specialize in small space gardening, which is fun for urban-dwellers looking to take their small garden spaces or rooftop decks up a notch. They are a great, small local business and offer great personal service and advice for those of us not gifted with a green thumb.

Costco - I need to give a shout out to Costco! For a few weeks in the spring, they offer the most spectacular plants and veggies, and big, bountiful flats of annuals. You can't beat the price, or the quality. And they have great garden accessories too.

Nick's Garden Center & Farm Market at2001 S. Chambers Rd inAurora. Amazing garden store! Family owned for over 25 years.Huge variety, strong plants, tons of options and great customer service. They offer classes for the not so green thumbs & the more experienced dirt diggers.BIG Fall events- CHILE FEST in September and FALL FEST in October. And, they have a cafe, serve breakfast and lunch. (I don't know about anyone else but shopping and gardens make me hungry!!)REALLY COOL PLACE!!!

Jensen's Flowers on west 9th Ave and Wadsworth-Family run. Great service. Very knowledgable. Reasonable prices.

City Floral Garden Center -Maybe more expensive that big box stores, but well worth the price for the plants beauty, health, and longevity. They have a great selection of products and the staff is always helpful. Plants tend to be great quality as well.

Southwest Gardens in Wheat Ridge. Great prices, selection and incredibly helpful staff. And a large selection of succulents that are very affordable.

Wild Flowers in Congress Park-Although not a full blown gardening store, they have eccentric and unique gifts to accentuate your garden and make your friends with a green thumb very happy!

Harlequin's Gardens in Boulder - great plants, dedicated to non pesticide use and plants chosen which do well for our crazy weather. Garden gear, lots of classes as well and really healthy plants. Good folks.

Birdsall & Co. on South Broadway. Great statues and fountains.

There you have it, Denver's best spots to start your urban garden!
