There are so many ways to style your home for the holidays, and we are loving this rustic simplicity that's trending right now.
Dot+Bois one of our favorite retailers, and this post for HuffPo has us so inspired! There's something special about celebrating the holidays with snow-covered Rocky Mountain views and the occasional snowstorm...cuddling up by the fire, choosing a freshly cut tree, heading home from a day on the slopes to see the house lit up in celebration. We love it!
What about you? Does this rustic vibe fit your holiday mood?
If not, hang in there, and watch our blog over the next few weeks as we feature other holiday decoratingstyles!
Tips for decorating with rustic authenticity:
1. Focus on White
There are quite a few colors that are associated with the holidays. Red, green, gold, and white are some of the most common. When it comes to creating the perfect rustic seasonal home, you want to keep your focus on the white. With subtle touches of the other colors as accents and dÃcor, use white as backgrounds, upholstery, rugs, and more to create the feeling of being in a snow-covered forest.

2. Reclaim Your Furnishings
Add coziness and warmth to the room with lots and lots of reclaimed wood. Not only do furnishings made with these materials usually come in a more muted, wintery color palette, but they'll also add texture and that beautiful unfinished quality to the space that is so important when it comes to rustic designs.

3. Be Inspired By Nature
When picking out holiday accents and dÃcor, let yourself be inspired by nature. Reindeer immediately conjure up a Christmasy feeling, so use antlers as ornaments, hooks, and more to bring both the rustic and festive spirit into your home. Introduce succulents on wreaths, pinecones as bookends and candleholders, forest green upholstery on armchairs.

4. Keep Things Simple
Whatever you do, don't over decorate. This rustic look is all about simplicity--going back to the basics. Choose your furniture and dÃcor carefully so that each piece is doing as much work as possible. This will allow you to keep your home feeling open, clean, and humble while still enjoying the hints of festive features.

5. Feature Your Tree
The item that should be doing the most work in your rustic holiday home is your Christmas tree. This should be the center of attention. You must have areal treein this style setting, though you can choose whether or not its branches are full or spare.
Its decorations should be just as simple as the rest of your dÃcor, most made from natural materials like leaves, leather, etc. Going back to our first step, you may want to add a touch of white frost to its branches or you can simply leave it in its natural state.
Whatever you decide, make sure that it is the focal point by facing chairs and sofas in toward it and by keeping it the most decorated object in the space.
