5 Home Improvement Projects (+ 1 Cocktail) for Your Labor Day Weekend

Can you believe it's already Labor Day?!

In honor of this long holiday weekend, we've rounded up this list of home improvement tips that will help you pass the time (and add value to your property), just in case you're not super busy with BBQs, camping, or just enjoying a couple of lazy days off work!

(We've also included an awesome hand-crafted cocktail recipe from our friends at Rising Sun Distillery...which might just make these tasks a little less painful!)

1. Create an Organization System for All of Your Clothes

A coat draped over the couch may not be a big deal, but a coat strewn on the couch, a few pairs of shoes on the floor and jewelry on the table adds up to something big: C-L-U-T-T-E-R. Instead of attacking clutter room-by-room, it can be helpful to attack a single type of item that contributes to clutter in a bunch of places. Clothes, in this case. Let's organize!

2. Do a Roof Check.

A solid roof above your head is pretty crucial if you've become accustomed to having a warm, cozy, and leak-free home. Here's how to notice and deal with potential issues before they become big ones.

3. Create an Outdoor Oasis.

When your mom told you to turn off the TV and play outdoors already, she knew what she was talking about. Hanging outside is good for our mental and physical well-being. As adults, having an outdoor retreat adds an economic component: Upwards of 80% of homebuyers said patios and front porches are œessential or œdesirable, according to the œWhat Buyers Really Want survey from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Here are some inexpensive ways to upgrade your outdoor spaces.

From ingeniousstorage solutions to stylishfurniture and lighting, ourhallway decorating ideaswill show you how to make yourssomuch more than just an entryway. So get inspired by these amazing hallway design ideas. Your home will thank you for it...

5. Install New House Numbers.

One of the easiest and most affordable ways to update your home's curb appeal is to install some updated and modern new house numbers. This might also improve your home's safety as it's vital that emergency responders be able to see your home's address from the street...and it will definitely help your friends find your crib for that Labor Day bash you're hosting!

As promised, here is a super delish cocktail recipe from our friends at Rising Sun Distillery:

Cantaloupe Garden Martini

2 oz. Rising Sun Distillery Vodka
1 Slice De-Seeded Jalapeno
1/2 Lime
4 oz. Fresh Cantaloupe
3/4 oz. Simple Syrup
Dash of Bitters
In a cocktail shaker muddle all of the above ingredients. Add ice and shake. Salt the rim of a cocktail glass. Strain mixture into glass and garnish with lime.
Cheers!
Whether you are thinking of selling your property in the near future, or just want to make the most of the place you're renting, we think the most important thing is that you LOVE where you LIVE. Doing a little redecorating, organizing, updating or simple cleaning can go a long way toward making that happen...so dig in...even though it's supposed to be your weekend off!

Happy Labor Day!
