Two days in Denver: Play tour guide or tourist with this list of top spots to show off your town

With so many attractions and great eateries, it's tough to pare down the multitude of Mile High attractions.
This itinerary has you making the most of your days with equal parts awe-inspiring mountain and city sites, top-notch food and some green transportation along the way.

Day 1. Mountain:

Knock your visitors' socks off with a drive straight up the hill to Evergreen and breakfast at the Wildflower Cafe.
Bum around for a bit, see the lake, stop in a cute shop.
Then head to Red Rocks. Park at the top and puff your chest with pride at the beauty of our natural ampitheater. Stop at the visitor's center. If the park is closed due to a concert, drive up to Golden Gate Canyon for some near-city loveliness.
Keep going along CO 93, wave to Golden, and head through Nederland for a peek at a funky mountain town.
Have a bite at the New Moon Bakery or the Sundance Cafe.
Now back on the road to Boulder. If time allows, drive through Chautauqua Park to peek at the auditorium, cottages and grounds. Head back into town to the Pearl Street Mall to enjoy a street busker performance and famous shops like Peppercorn. Finish with dinner in Boulder.
Head home to Denver for a nightcap at your favorite local haunt.

Day 2: City.

Breakfast in Highlands at Sassafrass, Spuntino or Mona's.
Head to the Masterpiece Delicatessen to grab some insane sammies for the road.Hint: Pack a cooler in your car with ice.
Walk over the bridge into the Central Platte Valley, across Commons Park and to the top of the Millennium Bridge. Keep walking to take a quick swirl through the beautiful Union Station.
Walk back to your car in awe of great minds making great cities.
Take Speer Blvd across town to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Enjoy the postcard view in front of the DMNS sundial; hop on a B-Cycle and head west around the Zooand City Park; take a beat at Tattered Cover to have an espresso and buy a book; keep going to Denver Botanic Gardens where you drop off the bike, buy a ticket and take a stroll through DBGs fountains, world-class gardens and new greenhouse.
Eat your insane sammie in any of the Gardens' serene viewing spots. Jump back on a B-cycle and continue your leisurely downhill ride to the pavilion at Cheesman Park. Now you're starting to see why Denver's park system ranks among the best in the nation.
Continue your spin around the park and your trek downtown to the Clyfford Still Museum. Park your bike. Outside, enjoy the Still Museum's striking take on mid-century modernism. Inside, view Still's great abstract works at the only museum in the world to hold his collection (95% of his life's work).
Walk over to Civic Center Park to gaze at the Capitol, Central Library and City and County Building. Head into the Denver Art Museum's Fred Hamilton building and go directly to the 2nd floor, where your jaw will drop at the spectacular collection of Western American art. Take the elevator to the 7th Floor of the North building for more of the world's best collection of Western American art.
Then cab, Uber or B-cycle it back to get your car.
Finish your day at one of the following delicious east side restaurants: Potager, Barolo Grill or Fruition.
*Note: Drink copious amounts of water along the way and if you're a flatlander, pop some Advil to ward off the Mile High headache.
