Is Elitch Lanes really leaving? Where is it going?

After over 60 years in the Berkeley neighborhood, Elitch Lanes will be closing its doors in May and moving to Arvada. While it is only 6 miles away, it certainly will be missed on Tennyson Street. The Elitch family opened the bowling alley in 1952 and if you have ever been, you will have noticed that not much has changed since then and it is one of the many reasons the neighborhood has loved it some much over the years. Luckily, the owners will be relocating it to the old Western Bowl in Arvada at 10000 Ralston Road and hope to be open May 17th.

I know I will personally miss the lanes so close to my house and after taking my three year old daughter there for the first time over the holidays, I know she will too. No word yet on what will move into the space. There were rumors that a Lucky Strike or Punch Bowl Social would take over the space but now it appears that the lot is for sale and with 5 stories possible, I imagine apartments or condos of some sort will take over the space. As soon as I hear more I will post to the blog. Just hoping there is some sort of commercial space kept and we don't lose all these gems off Tennyson Street. To read more about it, click here.
