Denver vs. Seattle - How do they match up as far as housing markets?

We all know Denver will beat Seattle in the Super Bowl...but how do the two cities match up as far as housing demographics and statistics?

Population: Denver's population comes in at 604,356 while Seattle's is a little higher at 612,916.

Median household income: In Denver the median household income is $49,091, which is a little higher in Seattle at $63,470.

Residents with a bachelors degree or higher: 45 percent of Denver's residents have a bachelor's degree, while 58 percent of Seattle folks do.

Home-ownership rate is a close match-up: In Denver 50 percent of residents own their homes, while in Seattle that rate is 47 percent.

There's a really large difference in the average sales price of houses: $260,547 in Denver vs. $403,402 in Seattle.

But the Average square footage of houses sold is similar: 1,671 square feet in Denver vs. 1,622 in Seattle.

Inventory is even lower in Seattle than it is in Denver! Number of homes for sale within two miles of the football stadium: 299 by Mile High Stadium vs. 194 near Seattle's stadium.

List price of those homes near the stadium: $489,000 in Denver vs. $537,000 in Seattle.

Looks like a fairly even match-up, if housing is any indication...which it totally isn't, but it's interesting to compare the two cities from a different point of view while we wait for the big game!
