Low cost trees for Denver Residents this spring.

I know it's hard to think about with this snow, but in just a few months, it will be time to start thinking about getting your yard ready for summer and planting some more shade trees. Denver Digs Trees is a great program that offers discounted trees through the city to help Denver residents green up the city a bit. This spring, they are offering trees for $10 in 25 target neighborhoods and for only $35 in all other neighborhoods. These trees typically sell for over $100 at neighborhood nurseries so a great deal. Plus, they provide guidance on how to plant, where to plant and they will follow up after you plant the tree to make sure it is doing well.

Planting sites in these target neighborhoods with low tree canopy cover qualify for trees at $10 each: Athmar Park, Baker, Barnum, Barnum West, Chaffee Park, Clayton, Cole, College View/South Platte, Elyria-Swansea, Five Points, Globeville, Green Valley Ranch, Jefferson Park, Lincoln Park, Montbello, Northeast Park Hill, Overland, Ruby Hill, Skyland, Sun Valley, Valverde, Villa Park, West Colfax, Westwood, and Whittier.

Applications are dueFebruary 15th, and if you're approved for trees, they will be available for pick-up onSaturday April 19.

The online application form can be found at
