Neighborhood Spotlight - Harvard Gulch

Just south of Platt Park lies the Harvard Gulch neighborhood. Often overlooked due to its proximity to Washington Park and Platt Park, most people are pleasantly surprised with all this little neighborhood has to offer.

The epicenter of the area is Harvard Gulch Park, which spans multiple blocks, from Iliff to Harvard Ave., and S. Sherman Street to S. Ogden St., with S. Logan St. running through the middle of it. The park is great for running and volleyball, but also features Harvard Gulch Recreation Center, a great outdoor pool and a 9-hole Par 3 golf course.

Homes in this neighborhood are surprisingly affordable compared to nearby areas. For example, this 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom bungalow with a total of 1,581 square feet is listed for $263,900. Similar homes in adjacent Platt Park and Wash Park start at well over $300,000.

In addition to all of the amenities the park has to offer, residents of Harvard Gulch may also take advantage of shops and dining on South Broadway, which has recently had a resurgence, with hip new eateries popping next to some of Denver's original venues like Herman's Hideaway, all within walking distance. The DU neighborhood, just northeast of Harvard Gulch, off of Evans Ave, has its own share of restaurants, bars and entertainment.

If you've never been to Harvard Gulch Park or this area in Denver, check it out. I think you'll like what you find!
