Discover Mid-Century Modern in Wheat Ridge

Mid Century and Modern inWheat Ridge
A Tour of the Unexpected

September 7th, 2013,1-5pm

Wheat Ridge isn't widely known formid-century homes. Until now.

The western suburb of Wheat Ridge is not widely known for its unique California contemporary or mid-century modern homes, but Wheat Ridge 2020 and modmood and Retro Consignment are working to change that. For a few hours on September 7th, several homes will be open for you to walk through for stunning examples of mid-century and modern architecture and design.

Mid-century modern design emphasizes structures with large windows, open floor-plans and a connection to the indoor/outdoor experience. Many mid-century houses utilized groundbreaking post and beam design that eliminated bulky support walls in favor of walls made of glass. Additionally, sturdy brick construction and low roof lines are typical of the more modest mid-century homes.

On this tour, which takes place every-other year, homes are hand selected to give the viewers a real appreciation for modern and mid-century style. The 2011event drew over 300 participants.More info and ticketshere.
