One of the biggest draws of the Highlands, making it the hottest neighborhood in Denver and I would say the country, is the ability for homeowners to so easily walk or ride their bike down the block and meet friends and neighbors for a drink on a sunny afternoon. With the influx of new homeowners to the neighbor also comes an influx of new businesses. And the only thing as hot as Real Estate in Highlands right now seems to be retail space for new breweries in the neighborhood.
Last year brought the likes of Prost Brewing and Dogshead Brewing to the hood. This year, we will see 2 new ones on Tennyson St, a new one in Sunnyside and restaurants expanding to produce more of their own beer. The craft beer industry is exploding in Colorado and Denver is quickly becoming a destination for hard core beer enthusiasts. We are pretty lucky to have such great options in our own backyard, hope to see you trying out a local brew soon.
Berkeley District
DeSteeg Brewing plans to open February 1st and serve high-alcohol, high-gravity beers in the 8 to 14 percent range. Located at 4342 Tennyson St, make sure to catch the Grand Opening February 1st.
Hops & Pie has quickly become a neighborhood staple and starting this fall, will begin producing their own beer behind the restaurant and have growlers and bombers available for purchase.
West End Tap House is set to open next month at 3945 Tennyson St. They will focus on Colorado Craft beer and spirits.
Hogshead Brewery might not be true Berkeley, but certainly walking distance and it too has become a staple for the neighborhood. With an emphasis on English style ales and one of the best spots to meet up with friends in the hood, you can see why people are flocking to our neighborhood.
Sunnyside
Diebolt Brewing will open late spring or early summer at 3855 Mariposa. They are in the process of redoing an old warehouse space and from the looks of it so far, going to be a place you definitely want to check out.
Crooked Stave Barrel Cellars has been open in North Sunnyside for a couple years now and is making quite the impression on the beer scene. According to their website, they produce artisan Saisons, 100% Brettanomyces fermented beers, Barrel-aged sours and American Wild Ales. While I might not know what that is, it sure sounds delicious. Check them out at 1441 W 46th.
LOHI
Prost Brewing Company opened last year in LoHi. It serves authentic German style beers brewed in antique copper brewhouse and also boasts one of the best views of downtown you will find. Find it at 2540 19th St.
