Construction has started on the new Sprouts Market in Congress Park, along East Colfax Avenue between Monroe & Garfield Streets.

Waner Construction is overseeing the "shell construction" of the 26,000 sq ft store. In speaking with Waner Construction crew members today, it appears that bids will be accepted for tenant refinish work in late December 2012. The store is slated to open after May 2013.
The new Sprouts Market will be a welcomed addition to the East Colfax corridor, which does not currently have a large healthy grocery store within walking distance. Within a five block walk of the new store, business has already been buzzing for years at establishments such as: The Bluebird Theater, Stella Trattoria, Atomic Cowboy/Fat Sully's Pizza Pie/Denver Biscuit Co, Babooshka, Hooked on Colfax, Mezcal, Tommy's Thai, Steve's Snappin Dogs, Goosetown Tavern, Ism Gallery, Spirit Ways and Collins Bicycles.
