I want to put a privacy fence in the backyard of my Denver home;do I need a permit to do so? It is a question that I am actually asking rightnow. With the weather going to be sonice this weekend, I might actually get around to putting up the fence I've beenputting off all winter. Looking deeper into it, and consulting Kyle O'Connorwith KJO Construction, I havefound out it all really depends.
The City of Denver has a very helpful link on their websiteto walk you through the process and help you figure out if you need a permit ornot. It appears the biggest criteria to needing a permit is if you plan tobuild a masonry wall over 4 feet tall or a wood fence over 8 feet tall. Also, it makes a big difference if you livealong a parkway or Landmark District. For all the details, click hereand the chart below should help give you a better feel for if you need a permitor not. And if it is all a little overwhelming, give Kyle a call, he is veryexperienced with fences in Denver and does a fabulous job.
