Does Denver county offer recycling for small business?

Does Denver country offer recycling for small businesses? Denver county offers a terrific and free recycling program for Denver residents. Unfortunately, the same doesn't apply to small businesses in Denver. I have been trying to figure out why, but Denver Recycles, a program of the City & County of Denver Public Works Department's Solid Waste Management, is only authorized to provide services to residential homes of seven or fewer units.

If you ever work in a small business, or walk through the alley ways behind many of our boutique lined streets in Denver, it becomes apparent how much paper and cardboard small businesses use. It sure would make sense then for Denver to offer recycling to small businesses not only because of the obvious benefits to the environment, but also because of how much paper, cardboard and plastic it could potentially keep out of the ever growing Denver landfills.

I work in two small businesses. For one, I pack up all of our recycling and take it to arecycling center. I do my best, but sometimes I will admit it gets overwhelming and not as much recyclable material makes it to the recycling center as it would if I had a recycling bin to place at the curb each week. At our Live Urban Real Estate office, we decided to be proactive about recycling and we sought out a great company that provides recycling for us for a cost.

At Live Urban, we use Go-Green-Recycling. They pick up from our office twice a month and they hire the majority of their workforce from the developmentally disabled community. The Denver Gov website offers a list of other companies they recommend as well, click here. Hopefully someday soon the county will offer the recycling service to small business too. And if anyone has ideas on how to get the city on board, we would love to hear it and help out!
