Pet Food Drive - Help 'families in need' keep pets at home in Denver

dogandcat_400As we continue to read about the challenging economy and the increasing foreclosure rates another statistic goes hand in hand, families having to part with their beloved family pet due to the cost. The shelters are filled with additional animals due to abandonment, or many times, families bringing them in with no other place to turn. The situation exists across the nation.

As we approach the holidays, please count your four-legged blessings and pick up an additional bag or can (or 2) of cat or dog food for those in need- The Pet Food Drive continues from December 3rd - December 17th at two drop off sites (see below). Food Bank of the Rockies will distribute the food to families in need and channel the food through additional agencies such as Meals on Wheels and other groups assisted by the food bank.

Along with Heavenly Dog, I'm a proud sponsor of the Pet Food Drive and an advocate for our furry friends. I've worked to raise funds with several local animal non-profits, including Denver Dumb Friends' League, Divine Feline & Rocky Mountain Alley Cat Alliance. Denver is such a pet-friendly place! We understand what our pets mean to our families, and the thought of a family having to make a choice to let go of a loved pet hurts us all!

If you like to mingle with other pet lovers, the initial Kick-off party for the Pet Food Drive is December 3rd heavenly_dog_cropped_120at the Heavenly Dog location in Washington Park (Gaylord & Tennessee). It's First Friday on Gaylord Street, and friendly dogs are welcome to the party. We will have wine & treats (for humans & pets!). Heavenly Dog recently did a beautiful remodel and wants to show it off!

Pet Food Drop-Off December 3rd 17th:
