Highlands is going to the Dogs

The Highlands Garden Cafà is sponsoring a special evening this Sunday from 4-7PM to benefit Canine Companions for Independence. This national organization, with local chapters along the Front Range, trains and places four legged companions with people living with disabilities. The evening wouldn't be complete without the stars of the show joining everyone on the patio for demonstrations of their skills.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Cafà and Cru Vin Dogs Wine Group. The wonderful collection of wines will include favorites such as the 2007 Best of Show Pinot Noir, paired with New Zealand lamb chop served with pomegranate reduction and the 2008 Greyhound Sauvignon Blanc served with a antipasti brochette prepared with salami, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, oven roasted tomato and basil.

The Highlands Garden Cafà has been recognized for its fresh cuisine and chef specialties with outstanding ambiance created within the Victorian architecture. The cafà features the five dining areas as well as gardens and patios surrounding the restaurant. Located between Osceola and Perry Streets, the Cafà first opened 16 years ago in one of the smaller homes along 32nd Avenue. Future expansion combined the original restaurant with the adjacent home, retaining the style and architecture of the two Victorian homes. . The gardens underwent significant renewal last winter and returned with color and textures along 32nd Avenue.
Cru Vin Dogs Wine Group have become a mainstay at Mondo Vino and The Highlands Wine and Liquors. The extraordinary artwork by Jay Snellgrove adds a furry face to every bottle. As stated on their website, Cru Vin Dogs œisn't your ordinary wine company.? We exist to combine our passions friendship, wine, art and our love of dogs into a wine brand that has a purpose.? Wine that gives back.? Wine that makes a difference.

The cost of the evening is $35.00 per person with proceeds benefiting Canine Companions for Independence. The Cafà is located at 3927 West 32nd Ave. Additional parking is available in the rear of the property. For reservations, please call the Cafà at 303-458-5920.

A personal note and disclosure: The cafà is owned by my sister, Pat Perry. As a broker/agent with Live Urban Real Estate, I am pleased to be able to add this fundraiser to our list of community events.
