I've been sitting on the porch looking at the rain and my green spring grass, looking atseed catalogs, and dreaming about how great my garden will look in May and how brown it will be by August. I'll admit to working to conserve water in my daily life (low flush toilets, no running water while I brush my teeth) but when it comes to the landscape...not so much.
In order to adjust my water Karma I started looking for a few ways that I could have a green lawn, some color in the perrennial beds, and still do my bit to make sure we all can still take showers in 2030.
There are a lot of sources for ways to reduce your water footprint, but the one of the best places I've found is right in my online backyard at http://www.denverwater.org/Conservation/TipsTools/

In addition to conservation stuff, you can also get info on everything from xeriscape (no folks...it's not ZEROscape) to rebates and incentive programs. You can find out about water use restrictions and get links to other places that can help you adjust your water Karma.
It's easy for me to think about conservation when I'm looking out at beautiful rain...but I know it will be harder when I see all that green lawn start to turn brown. Maybe if I start now I'll be able to add a white stone to my karma bucket come August.
