Here are some of our favorite stories and laughs from our agents.

Kelsey Krug
"I booked a showing for my client to see a house. We arrived on time, and I opened the door and heard a "hello?". I thought I had walked in on a homeowner and promptly shut the door after apologizing. My client and I waited at the door, and nobody opened it. I knocked... still no answer. When I went to open the door again, I heard "hello." I walked in further this time, only to find myself talking to a parrot."

Christine Trigg
"I had a mountain listing once, and when it came time to inspect the septic system, we learned the tank had not been cleaned out in so long the concrete had actually started to melt! The solution was to treat it as if it were a Chernobyl-style nuclear meltdown and seal the tank in another layer of concrete. I am still surprised the buyer chose to continue with the transaction. Yuck!"

Joanne Jordan
"While agents do their best to ignore any personal items or decorations when showing a home, sometimes the collections jump out at you. Recently, these dolls in a basement bedroom were a little unnerving as we turned on the light. But even worse, as you look closely, you can see what appears to be dried blood on the middle doll's dress!! Then a week later, the dolls were spotted on a Facebook post as items you could purchase at their upcoming Estate Sale!"

Josh Demby
"I had a listing where I couldn't screw in a new light bulb in the powder room. I realized I couldn't screw it in because the previous lightbulb had broken, but the metal part of the lightbulb was still stuck in the outlet. I learned that if you cut a potato in half, you can use the soft part to unscrew the metal part of the light bulb! I will go to any length to get a listing ready for market, if that's giving the listing a good sweep or even touching up paint, but this was definitely a new one for me. At least I now know this trick for any future light bulb installations that come my way!"

Denise Whittington
"I finally found the perfect home for my first-time homebuyers, but it came with an entryway ceiling COVERED with flowers. My clients requested it be removed before purchase, but the homeowner insisted that 'an artist never destroys his/her own work.' After many hours of back and forth, my clients decided to buy the home with the floral ceiling intact. We are a few weeks after closing, and they have decided to keep the floral ceilingAt least for now."

Niels Oomkes
"I had a closing set for 11:00 AM, so we scheduled a final walk-through of the property for 10:00 AM. Upon walking into the home, I encountered a seller walking around naked as he had just gotten out of the shower. He didn't seem to think it was a problem, but at least I saved my clients from the Full Monte onslaught. After closing, myself and the listing agent still had to help him pack up the last of his belongings, so my clients could take possession."

Ken Greenfield
"The day I was showing first-time buyers condos is a day I will never forget. We were looking at a building that was being converted from apartments to condos. I set up three showings in the building. The lock box contained one key, a master key for all the condos for sale. At the second condo, I knocked and unlocked the door. As I opened it, there was a loud woman's scream, and someone from inside pushed the door closed in my face. My buyers and I jumped back, hearts racing, wondering what was happening in that condo. I heard some activity behind the door. When it opened a few seconds later, a young man appeared, wrapped in a sheet. He wanted to know why I was entering his home. He explained that they had just closed on it earlier in the week. He and his wife were in the living room on their couch, having some "private time." I explained to him that his condo was still listed as active, and the developer had not changed the lock on their door! My buyers were so startled they decided they couldn't look at the third condo, and we left the building. Back at my car, we had a good laugh and continued our home tour, thanking our lucky stars that we were not in some horror movie situation!! We still laugh about it today."
