What are they doing around Berkeley Lake and Dog Park?

What is going on with all the construction around Berkeley Lake and Dog Park? If you have been to the lake or dog park recently, you have certainly seen a lot of dirt being moved and fences torn down. While it is an inconvenience now, it certainly will be a huge improvement not to long from now.

The construction you see is part of the 2008 Better Bond through the City of Denver that will certainly make the park and path around the lake much, much nicer and more enjoyable for all of us. The master plan includes reconfiguring the north side of the lake, adding a berm, fence, trees and vegetation to block the highway from the park. The trail will be improved along with new benches and lights to make the trail more user friendly. There will also be improved fishing access around the lake along with improving the fish habitat in the lake.

The entire project should be completed by the summer of 2012. Between now and then the trail and other parts of the park will be closed at times. The temporary dog park will remain in place until completion when it will be moved back to its former, improved location.
