New Things to Do in Denver: Pop Up Park

Denver's First Pop Up Park! The Square on 21st

New Things to do in Denver

Pop Up restaurants and shops have maintained their chic-mystique over the past several years. But, ahead-of-the-cool-curve-Denver has taken the concept several steps further with a pop up park! The Square on 21st spans 21st street from Larimer to Lawrence (The Ballpark Block) and will be entertaining Denverites until August 15th, 2017 from 7am to 11pm, daily. Mayor Hancock explained the new project - a partnership with Denver's Department of Public Works, upon its July opening, œOur parks bring neighbors together, and this new public space will allow the community to spend time outdoors and experience our vibrant downtown in new ways.

The Live Urban Real estate marketing team attended The Square on 21st to explore new things to do in Denver! We had heard that the square on 21st offered food trucks and stands. Accordingly, we arrived on a warm Wednesday morning in search of 3 much needed cups of coffee, thinking we could snag one at truck or booth. We were soooooo disappointed to see that nothing was running at this time on a weekday morning. So, with caffeine headaches mounting, we forged on to explore Denver's pop up park.

This time of morning was quite quiet I mean, wouldn't you think Wednesday at 9am would be a hoppin time downtown? Our blind excitement clearly misguided our timing, but we're assured that the park is simply packed in the evenings.

Vividly filled flower planters and precious trees lined the temporarily car-less block while bistro lights and sculpture-like entryways added a sophisticated, edgy look. Everything was empty, calm, and completely coffeeless. Everything except the the little dog park, that is. This mini-piece of dog heaven contained energy and life - these pups clearly didn't miss out on their morning cup of joe!

Our Live Love Wag team enjoyed the Square on 21st's dog park too, œIt is wonderful to have a dog park in the LoDo neighborhood! Although small, there's nothing else like it right now in LoDo and it's a great way to let your dog play off leash in the middle of the city! Our city pups definitely need and deserve some off leash play time. A few things to keep in mind before taking Fido to the dog park in Lodo. You need to make sure he is up to date on his rabies vaccination. This is VERY important not only for your dog's health, but for all the pups at the dog park. Ask your veterinarian for her recommendation or visit the City's Pet Services Page. Once you have your vaccinations then you will want to register your pup in with city of Denver! As always, have fun with your pup and make sure you bring water with you if you plan to hangout for awhile. It's been hot in Denver and water is important in keeping your dog comfortable in this heat.

If you're looking for new things to do in Denver, don't miss your fleeting opportunity to visit Denver's pop up park! Evenings offer food trucks, lawn games, ping pong, occasional live music, shady seating, street art, bike ramps, and (perhaps) a place to order coffee.
