Autumn in Northern Colorado

Now that summer is a faint memory and fall is in full swing, there's no better time to showcase some great fall activities that make living in Northern Colorado so great!

College Football

Since football seems to be so integrated into the cultural fabric of Colorado, you can't talk about fall without football. In Northern Colorado, we don't just have good football. We have two NCAA Division I teams including the PAC-12 legends - the CU Buffs, from University of Colorado, Boulder. You can catch games up in Fort Collins at Colorado State University (CSU Rams) or in Greeley at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC Bears) - be sure to check out their upcoming schedules!

Leaf Peeping

With fall just underway, there are still countless opportunities to see the leaves change to the vibrant colors we've grown accustomed to here in Colorado. Here are a few places to take in our beautiful fall scenery:

Trail Ridge Road Scenic Byway Estes Park to Grand Lake

Take in the grandeur of Rocky Mountain National Park as you travel along Trail Ridge Road outside of Estes Park. Bask in the rainbow of color you'll experience along the hillsides and valleys throughout this route. This is also a great time of year to experience the fall Elk Rut - be sure to turn off your radio, open the windows and listen for the bull elk bugling in the distance.

Lory State Park

Situated just West of Fort Collins and to the North & West corner of Horsetooth Reservoir & Park. Get out of your car and take either the Fire Line Trail or the Quarry Ridge Loop Trail for some great views of the foothills and rolling valleys. For more information and trail conditions, visit: Lory State Park

Poudre Canyon

Designated a Colorado Scenic and Historic byway, the Cache la Poudre River Canyon is considered one of the state's premier scenic highways.Take Highway 14, near Bellvue, and follow the winding roads along the Poudre Canyon as the colors slowly transition from greens to vibrant yellow. There are various campgrounds and trailheads along the route, so be sure to stop and take in all the beautiful views. For a listing of hiking and activities: Poudre Canyon

Cameron Pass

Further along Highway 14 and Poudre Canyon Road, you'll be amazed at the scenic beauty as you drive up through the Continental Divide. This drive is sure to provide an array of photo opportunities while making your way through thousands of aspens.
