Walk Denver is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to make Denvera pedestrian friendly city with neighborhoods that are "well-connected,people-focused, culturally vibrant, active and economically thriving." At LIVE Urban a large number of our clientsare interested in living in neighborhoods where residents can walk to parks,stores, and restaurants, because those of us who live in neighborhoods withhigh walk scores, know walking is greatfor building community ties, enjoying local finds and slowing the pace of ourlives.
Walk Denver is advocating one project in conjunction with the nationalorganization Better Block (betterblock.org) in the North West Denver'sJefferson Park. This project sets uptemporary pop up businesses and community improvement projects to show theeconomic possibilities of neighborhoods that have been neglected. Through their efforts in other states BetterBlock projects have brought significant revitalization funds to communities.
